Our cutthroat trout, wilderness rafting and camping trips are designed to get away from heavily fished waters, away from access points, and onto seldom fished waters. We access the rivers by 4x4, atv, or helicopter (if you choose this option). Put ins are in remote areas of Alberta. Each trip is 3 to 5 days in duration and your trip will not pass any major access. Single day trips are available as well.

Our cutthroat trout waters and the Ram River have good populations of good sized trout. While the majority are 8 to 17", 22" cutts exist. On three of the four rivers we fish there are bull trout. These range from 2 to 15 pounds and while they are not the focus of the trip, bulls are certainly an exceptional attraction to fly fish for.

The majority of the season is spent dry fly fishing on these mountain waters. Various hatches of mayflies, caddis, and stoneflies occur from late June through mid October offering afternoon dry fly action. Nymphing or dropper fishing can be productive each morning as water temperatures warm to dry fly conditions each afternoon. Streamer fishing can be very good on our bull trout waters. The rivers themselves are not large, about 15 to 30 yards wide. Stream features are riffles, runs, and pools with log jams and rock shelves the primary features. Small rapids and moderate currents are floated on our journey. The surrounding landscape is of canyons, foothills, and mountains - the scenery on each river is spectacular.

Our season begins the last week of June and lasts through early October each year. Runoff is normally done by mid June and the fishing picks up soon after. We float 4 different rivers as each has its own unique character and "best" time to fish. While one river produces well late June to the end of July, another is best from mid July through September. With the 4  rivers, including the Ram, we are able to host trips all season. For a sample of one of our river, please visit our Ram River website.

We are active in the preservation of our waters. In 1998 we lobbied to have the Ram River designated catch & release. From 2001 to 2005 we established the Stream Watch program which increased stream and regulations awareness,  instituted stream signage, and the hiring of enforcement officers on waters we fish that historically have had little to no officer presence. We feel it our obligation to ensure the long term health of our waters as we are lifetime fly fishers of these waters.

Accommodations on our float trips are in primitive tent camps. Space is limited to what fits in the rafts and atvs - or helicopters if you choose that option. Tenting entails sleeping pads, basic chairs, and cooking over propane stoves. We provide all camp gear and equipment, you are responsible for fishing gear, personal effects, and a sleeping bag.
