There are days that the fishing is going to be tough. This was one. The hallmarks of low water as summer began to peak mixed with a warm, sunny day meant that the fish were going to shut down late afternoon. That meant if we came across a feeding fish early in the day it would be spooky, fussy, likely territorial chasing another fish pushed into the limited habitat, and the odds of hooking anything quite low. Our host Ashley took us out, knowing that we’d only be looking at a 1/2 day fish before we shut it down for the day. So, when presented with this one fish, I dug in and did what I knew I had to. This is that fish, as well as sharing the thoughts running through my mind leading to why I did what I did, when.
