It has been a while since we continued our “As It Happens” series, so let’s jump back in with an impromptu filming of a neat engagement with a rainbow trout:
“We were literally walking up the edge of center of the river when we spotted a smudge just upstream. Rainbow! Forced to shoot ‘now’, this video shares a missed eat that wasn’t given up on. No time to switch up at first, Amelia was using Dave’s set-up from the previous deeper holding trout that required a big, bushy, difficult to cast dry fly (note the needed long pause needed on her first casts) with a long dropper tippet to a deep-running tungsten nymph. Once the rainbow was dropped, it went laterally to the logs but we kept an eye on it, changed flies while we waited for it to return to home feeding base, then had another go.”
Let’s have a look!
